Android has become a very popular mobile phone operating system. Many of 2010's best selling phones now are on this platform. It's open source meaning that any company can take this and put it onto their hardware. There are many computer companies thinking of taking this operating system and using it on lower power netbooks. While this does have some advantages, there are some disadvantages to running Android on your netbook.
First of all, these are going to be fairly slow. The hardware that is designed for Android netbooks tend to be less powerful than a normal netbook but a bit faster than a smart phone. You should not expect to have an excess of speed as you might be used to on other netbooks build on different operating systems.
Tablet Android
You are going to have to wait for functions to come to Android. While Android is doing great as a mobile phone, there are just things that aren't on this platform for computer users yet. With Windows or other forms of Linux, these functions already exist. With your Android netbook, you will still have to wait for things to be developed.
The hardware is extremely specialized on Android netbooks. It runs an architecture that is a bit different than what many other computers are running. This means that you might have issues trying to install other operating systems on this device if you want more than just Android.
Windows programs are something that you are not going to be able to run. Other version of Linux at least have WineHQ that will run some Windows programs on your devices.
You won't be able to do as much since there are less applications available compared to Windows or other versions of Linux. This gives you less flexibility with an Android netbook compared to what is already available.
Other versions of Linux netbooks have already have many of the features that Android is still hoping to develop. You can have it all now or wait for this platform.
