Looking for the Best Tablet PC

When shopping around for the best tablet PC, or personal computer, one must be leery and ready for what certain specifications are required and which ones would be immodest accessories to purchase. As well, it's important to get an idea around basic costs of other tablets. By not doing so, one could end up overpaying severely for either dated materials, or for a tablet that isn't any more high-functioning than its inexpensive counterpart. As well, who's to say what add-ons are necessary when making your first tablet purchase. For this, it's of the utmost importance you understand what features do what so that you're not racking up the cost of things with the unnecessary.

Tablet Android

As you begin to start your search for your new tablet PC, the first item of business needs to be ceiling cost. Once you've decided what you're willing to pay, you'll be better prepared to discover where to start and what to look for.

Tablet Android

Taking into account what many exclusive tablets come equipped with, let's focus the ceiling cost, speculatively, at no more than a thousand dollars. Although this number most likely will not be reached.

The first rule to take into account is compatibility. Today, there aren't too many systems or software that are friendly to both Mac and Windows platforms. Sure, the number of them are growing, but at a slow rate. There will always just be some resources that are available and some that are not. So naturally if you want a Mac (iPad) or a PC (many others) is the biggest first step.

After you've gathered what you need, you should look to what your target use with the tablet is going to be.

If you're looking to use it for social media sources or business tracking or scheduling, you don't need something to advanced. Most tablets will pick up the internet and share the world with you and not as much in return. However, as you start to need more, then so does your tablet.

If you need it for business purposes, for demonstrations of slideshows or worksheets, or more complicated scheduling programs, then you need to make sure it has plug ins. Most people don't realize that tablets don't have disc drives either.

Plug-ins, in short, are just for reasons of connectivity, like a back-up hard drive. The tablets don't come with the same level of power and memory that normal computers do. That's not they're intended purpose yet. That said, you need to look for a tablet that can handle these functions.

Overall, the issue of selecting the best tablet PC comes down to some very basic procedures. It's no wonder too, with what an advanced device they truly all. To recap, remember that you need to feel out a ceiling price, choose the right operating system, determine how exactly you're going to use your tablet, and lastly, really, just try to stay under a ceiling price.

Product Review: Android MID 7" Tablet PC (an iPad Clone)

Apple's iPad was surrounded with so much hype before its release. By the time it hit the store shelves, a lot of people went crazy and bought themselves a new one. However, little did we know that somewhere on the other side of the world, a different version of (pretty much) the same device was on the works.

Tablet Android

Now, before you get the wrong idea, the Android MID 7" Tablet PC is not an iPad imitation. Instead, it's akin in principle to the Samsung Galaxy, both being tablet PC's running on the Android platform. In this article, let us review the product and see how good (or how bad) it is, when compared to the industry-leading iPad.

Tablet Android

Battery Life

Now, the iPad boasts more than eight hours of use without recharging, while the Android MID 7" lasts for less than four. What's more, there have been reports that many units have issues with charging, as the batteries are often defective. Thus, make sure that you are buying from a reputable seller in order to avoid getting a mobile device that is far from mobile.

On-screen Keyboard Sensitivity

One thing I noticed right away is that the on-screen keyboard is not as responsive as I wanted it to be. It takes almost half a second for a character to appear on screen, which translates to at least 2 minutes to write a single tweet. I guess I cannot expect much from a USD 100 device, but I can't help to want for more.

Connectivity

Unlike the iPad, this one does not have a SIM card slot. While many decry the iPad's being iffy about the SIM card size, this one has no SIM capability whatsoever. This becomes a problem or users like me who use SIM-based broadband Internet.

External Keyboard and Pouch

The Android MID 7" Tablet PC has optional accessories, so I decided to get an external keyboard that's installed on a carrying case. One thing I noticed is that the external keyboard has a USB connector, while the tablet PC does not. Because of this, you will still need to use an adapter (comes with the default package) so that the keyboard will work.

Now, the pouch is actually a misnomer. Why? Because the clamps that will hold the device are spaced too far apart. Because of this, the tablet can fall off of the carrying case at any given time, which defeats the purpose of the accessory in the first place.

So what's good about it?

The Price

At less than 100 USD, buying the Android MID 7" Tablet PC should be painless to most people. It can serve as a good training ground for Android OS novices. Why? Because given its price, even if you break it, you won't feel that bad.

The aPad iRobot Looks to Be a Real Contender to Apple's iPad At Half the Price!

The aPad iRobot and Tablet PC's in general are the future... Or so say many of the biggest computer hardware manufacturers in the world. The heads of HP, Samsung, Nokia and of course Apple, with the iPad have sworn that this will be the new way we interact with and use computers. While Apple's iPad is already on the market, all of the other companies that want a piece of this computer segment continue to work through designs and re-designs to ensure that they get their slate or tablet PC's just right.

Tablet Android

That hasn't stopped some smaller, yet very innovative companies from jumping on the tablet PC bandwagon, releasing various tablet pc's and form factors to try and compete with, and offer an alternative to, Apple's iPad. The operating system of choice for many of these small companies is Google's own ANDROID OS. Already popular in many smartphones that have come to market. It was originally designed only as a smartphone os, but works amazingly well as a full fledged touch control operating system on tablet PC's too. Much like Apple using their iPhone OS in a tablet PC, manufacturers are looking to the previously mobile only Android OS for their tablets as well.

Tablet Android

One of the small companies I mentioned earlier developed and is shipping the aPad iRobot is poised to be a real contended in the tablet PC world. While companies such as HP and Samsung try and rush out tablets that we've only seen concept art for, the aPaid iRobot has already started shipping and aPad's are already in the hands of customers world wide.

While the company behind the aPad iRobot may be small, the aPad itself is BIG on features. Boasting expandable memory via MicroSD Flash cards and built in apps and videos, set up out of the box, to allow you to take your content with you anywhere you please. The aPad comes with a 7" touch screen and runs Google Android OS. With a built in camera - something the iPad from Apple lacks - it offers video conferencing from the moment you open the box and power up the unit.

It runs Android OS 1.6 and has built in support for GMAIL email, High Definition Videos, and access to all the Android Marketplace apps you can get your hands on. All installable and useable just like Apps from Apple's AppStore.

One of the things people complained about with the iPad was the lack of a standard or mini USB port, to allow third party accessories to be connected easily - and without having to spend more money on adapters. The aPad iRobot has that covered too, with the mini USB allowing you to add any USB Compatible device, including an external Hard Drive and USB keyboards too. And not to be out done by anything Apple. The Apad also has the built in G-Sensor so that it will automatically switch to the direction that you're holding the aPad - either vertically or horizontally.

An 600mhz processor powers the aPad, with an additional 600mhz for the DSP (digital signal processor) allowing HD movies to be watched. Our favorite time waster - YouTube, is just a touch away as an icon on the main menu. You'll instantly be on YouTube watching whichever video you want to watch. For all of the social networking folks out there, you're set to go as well. Facebook and every other major site can be accessed via the built in Google Browser that bring up web pages lightning fast on the high resolution 7" screen. Google Maps, Google Talk and PDF reader are all built in. Much like Apple's iPad, the aPad is a very capable and comfortable eBook reader too. And it's much more comfortable to read your eBooks on the aPad than on any mobile phone out there. Sometimes, bigger IS better. And this is really the case with the aPad iRobot.

And the best part of the aPad iRobot is the price. While Apple's entry level unit comes in at a crisp 9.00 - the entry level aPad can be had for less than half the price. At under 0.00 it's much more obtainable for the majority of people that want to try out a Tablet PC but don't want to spend 0.00 to do so.

I can honestly say that for most regular tasks, browsing the web, reading and responding to email, catching YouTube videos, etc... a Tablet PC - in this case the aPad, feels much more natural than any notebook or netbook out there today. There's just something about holding it in your hands and being able to carry it around with you to show videos or pictures to friends that really does make a tablet PC very attractive.

Tips For Playing Real Money Mobile Poker On Android Phones And Tablets

Playing real money poker apps on Android smartphone or tablet is very similar to playing on a PC or Mac, however, there here are a few tips for playing mobile poker than may make your experience more enjoyable and profitable.

Tablet Android

* Under not circumstance should you store your poker rooms account details on your Android phone. Real money poker apps require users to enter their login details any time they want to play mobile poker to prevent unauthorised access in the event of the phone getting lost or being stolen. If you store your username and password on your Android then anyone who finds or steals your phone or tablet may be able to gain access to your online account.

Tablet Android

* In the event of your phone being lost of stolen, you should contact the poker rooms online support and ask them to disable mobile poker until further notice. Some Android poker rooms and casinos allow you to disable mobile play yourself from your online account.

* If you plan to play a lot of poker on your Android phone, you should first check what your mobile operator charges per megabyte of data transfer. Poker rooms do not charge their players anything extra to play mobile poker, but your mobile provider may charge you for the data transfer between your handset and the poker rooms servers. Most Androids now come with substantial or unlimited data packages so this is unlikely to be an issue for most mobile poker players. Still, if you are unsure it is better to check.

* If you are planning to play for real money then you should first test the network coverage in your area by playing a few hands for fun to ensure there are no nasty surprises later.

* While travelling, be aware that you may lose coverage when your vehicle enters a tunnel.

* As an additional security feature, some Android poker rooms and casinos do not allow their customers to deposit or withdraw funds via their mobile devices. If you plan on playing a few hands of mobile poker in the near future, make sure to add funds to account first while you are near your PC or Mac.

* Not all poker rooms offer real money Android poker. If you do need to sign-up with a new poker rooms that offers poker on Android smartphones and tablets, make sure to take them up on their generous sign-up bonus offers. What does this mean? It means you have a highly responsive touch sensitive tablet screen that will show your HD videos which you can also output to your TV with the right connecting cables. It has a highly usable operating system with plenty of applications and a processor that's very capable of dealing with them. The webcam will let you video conference and the connectivity options will allow you to get online. Finally the available ports allow you to add more memory and load files onto the device easily.

If the hardware specifications live up to what the Advent Vega is capable of, it will bring a very high powered slate PC and a very budget friendly cost. Other Android PC tablets have comparable specifications but are a great deal more highly-priced. The critical factor will be in the execution and how the software acts with the hardware.
